As telecoms has moved forward Ben has developed his training further by undergoing training within hosted telephony and is the main installation engineer and go to person for hosted projects.
Ben assists with the telecoms and network services support teams when he is not out on the road
Since joining Net-Defence he has gained experience with working with clients onsite including experience in device/ mobile device deployment, VPN deployment and deploying users in Microsoft exchange. Adnan’s has a great understanding of service desk operations after working in three different helpdesk positions.
He began installing phones system in early 2001 after quickly picking them up, old analogue, digital ISDN phone systems. In 2005 VoIP phone systems started to advance and IP telephony was the future, John completed several courses and he learnt quickly to adapt.
In 2007 Ogilvie Communication (now Net-Defence) bought Comtec, Net-Defence brought an IT team that allowed John to work closely with to further develop of IP telephony deployment.
John has worked on projects for large clients which further advanced his knowledge including cabling, IP phone systems, IP CCTV and IP door entry systems. With over 20 years in the industry, John is one to rely on.
Clients utilising our Managed Service Provider (MSP) offering have benefited from the work John has done to introduce our Remote Management and Maintenance (RMM) product. Using Solarwinds to provide a proactive support experience rather than a reactive, issue resolving service. Uptime increases, customer service and satisfaction improved and our customers are more efficient and informed. Anti-Malware, off site backup, network monitoring, patch management, email security, ticketing and remote assistance are all available in a single, easy to use console.
John is a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). This qualification is obtained by demonstrating knowledge of assessing the security of computer systems by looking for weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems, using the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker, but in a lawful and legitimate manner to assess the security of a system or network.
John has also studied a degree in Microbial Biotechnology, NVQ in Paramedic Science and ScotVEC in table tennis (level 2). It is a shame there is no formal qualification in sarcasm. He has worked in pharmaceutics, communications, hospitality, retail and as an MSP. He owns a small business buying and selling whisky and can be frequently found touring Scotland looking for new and exciting bottles. Samples are always well received in our office!
I have worked and supported various technologies throughout my career that range from various backup solutions, windows server, exchange, Hyper-V, VMware and storage solutions to name a few. As well as supporting I have also been involved in various software and hardware deployments such as anti-virus, backup hardware/software, archiving facilities, servers and desktops. I am always looking to get hands on with new technologies and meet any challenge head on, which my current role as technical support specialist with Net-Defence allows me to do.
I am part of a Nationwide team that provides expertise and customer-service support for clients to help them improve their value and security. Our portfolio includes IT Installations and Managed Services, Cyber Security, Structured Cabling, Telephony, Mobile, Data and Voice solutions. Within this team, I specialise in IT Infrastructure Solutions , IT Software Licensing and Customer Services, always keeping the client’s best interest at heart. Our customer base is UK wide, ranging from sole traders and SME’s, through to Third Sector and Public Sector organisations.
He has seen many changes within the telecommunications sector throughout his career and learned to develop and adapt his skill set with the very latest technology throughout his time with the company.
Back in the beginning, where everyone had analogue lines and dial up routers, ISDN was the future. Now ISDN is nearing its end and SIP Trunks and Hosted VoIP Telephony is at the forefront of the Telecommunications Industry, Simon is always keen to make sure that he has the best of technical knowledge to support every customer need.
Starting as a telecoms engineer and learning to understand our customer needs, he now is the Telecoms Supervisor within Net Defence, always making sure our customers have the very best response and technical support possible. Within this team Simon specialises in keeping our customers businesses up and running on a daily basis with the very best engineers in the business.
Out of work he is a keen football supporter and family man.
Joining Net-Defence in 2020, Jack has brought his solution focused experience and his enthusiasm for IT to the team.
Jack is also a keen musician, and is the lead guitarist in a rock band and regularly plays gigs in local venues.

Craig has been in IT for over 25 years with extensive knowledge of Microsoft technologies, network and infrastructure design along with project and IT management. He's worked in financial, public, private and manufacturing sectors, fulfilling roles from system support to design, implementation and project management of complex infrastructure and network designs. Craig leads our team of support and telecoms engineers supporting a wide variety of clients and all of Ogilvie Group businesses across a broad spectrum of technologies.
Justine is very adaptable and her role has evolved several times since. In December 2019 she moved to into a Network Services and IT Provisioning role working alongside Craig Hester within the IT department. Justine is also taking on more of role in our scheduling and resources management.
Amanda also oversees the order processing department making sure we meet internal and external customers’ expectations. Amanda is often referred to as the “go-to person” by both customers and colleagues alike, always friendly, approachable, and ready to help.
Outside of Net Defence, Amanda loves to travel and always has an adventure or two booked with friends and family.
