We have gone through significant evolution as the world has digitised, however, one thing has remained as a constant meeting and exceeding our customers’ needs.
Today we provide IT Support (MSP), Telephony, Cyber Security & Resilience services to our customers. We deliver practical solutions, that bring immediate value to your organisation though cost savings, strengthening your security posture while reducing risk with a focus on outstanding customer service.

In the beginning

We began our journey as a telecommunications company, through an acquisition in 1994. We were originally a division of Ogilvie Management Services, providing telecommunication installation and support to Ogilvie Construction and Ogilvie Fleet.  In the year 2000 we changed our name to Ogilvie Communications Limited.

1999 – 2002

During 1999 to 2002 we saw steady growth in our turnover totaling 44%. Still focused on telecommunications we supported a wide and varied customer based providing hardware, installation, maintenance and training.

In the latter part of 2002 we identified an opportunity for growth by entering in to the world of IT.   

2003 – 2004

In 2003 and 2004 we continued to provide outstanding telecommunication services whilst building a new set of IT service offerings. These services integrated well with each other, meeting the needs of our new and existing customers.

Towards the end of 2004, we were offering a wide range of services from occasional single solution and support through to fully managed telecommunications and IT Services.


As part of our growing business we acquired Comtec Business Equipment in 2007, this allowed us to increase our presence outside of Scotland as Comtec were based in the North East of England. This also us to expand our telecommunication expertise bringing market leader Samsung into our service offering. We were able to acquire existing staff who brought installation, customer support knowledge and experience into the business. Many of team remain with us today.

2015 – 2018

In 2015 we changed our name to Net-Defence, this was to better represent the integrated telecommunications and IT services we continue to provide.

During this period of evolution, the company consciously made a decision to provide secure solutions for IT and Telecommunication. If your infrastructure is not adequately protected your business is at significant risk.

The security side of the business flourished at this time whilst retaining our core IT and Comms business; one of the few companies to offer an end-to-end solution to business from  Cabling, Telecoms  (Including our own Lines and Broadband billing platform), IT Installs, consultancy straight through to aftercare and managed service.

2019 – 2022

As the world continued to digitise a new risk emerged, cyber. To continue to support our customers we added cyber services to our portfolio. We started with Cyber Essentials, GDPR and security testing.

In more recent times we have merged these under our Cyber Resilience umbrella. Bringing together services and certifications to ensure your organisation remains operational should the worst happen.
